Burns and McDonnell (BM) held a 90% design review on the plans and specifications on May 24, 2017. BM determined that the opinion of probable cost (OPC) which came in lower than expected. The current cost of the Browns Branch Pumpstation is $618,000. In addition, BM who was also designing modification to the Plant Pumpstation, located within the plant proper developed an OPC of $224,000. Both of these costs are lower than the current budget of 1.2 million. It is the City Staffs opinion, along with BM that combining these projects would be more cost effective and with the lower costs additional work could be performed in a single project. BM is currently looking at a second rake and an automatic transfer switch for the future generator at Browns Branch. At the Plant Pumpstation an extension of the conveyor is being investigated so it will empty into the dumpsters instead of the floor of the station.
